Department News - Fall 2014

Auditions: THURS, Sept. 4 (7-10pm) and FRI, Sept. 5 (5-10pm)
Callbacks: SAT, Sept. 6 (noon until 6pm)
Location: Balch Arena Theater
Requirements: please prepare a 1 – 1 1/2 minute monologue contemporary monologue; you may also be asked to read from the script (available for perusal in the box office). A description of the play is located on the call board. To schedule an audition, write your name and phone number in an available slot on the call board. Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your allotted audition time to check in with the assistant stage manager, fill out an audition form, and have your photograph taken. Should you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our stage manager, HANNAH DEEGAN.

EMMA (F), age 35, a muralist – any race or ethnicity
EMMA (WEDGEWOOD) DARWIN (F), wife of Charles Darwin
DOCTOR (F), Emma's OB-GYN –, any race or ethnicity
ANNE DARWIN (F), daughter of Charles Darwin
CHARLES (M), Emma's husband, a chef – any race or ethnicity
CHARLES DARWIN (M), the naturalist
CARNIVAL BARKER (M), part of the Mutation Side Show – any race or ethnicity
[Also various smaller roles to be distributed during casting]
PUPPETEERS – responsible for bringing to life several puppet creatures, present throughout the entire play – an opportunity to learn about puppetry in the style of Julie Taymor, or the Handspring Puppet Company

Rehearsal and Performance Schedule – full rehearsal schedule is on the call board
The first read-through will be held on Monday, September 8 at 8:30pm.
Rehearsals will typically be held:
Mondays, 8:30-11:30pm Tuesdays, 7-11pm Thursdays, 7-11pm Fridays, 3-7pm
Sunday, 2-7pm
Tech begins Saturday, October 18 (Parents Weekend).
Performance dates are October 23-25, and 28 at 8pm, and November 1 at 2pm and 8pm.

Please note that attendance during tech week and all performance dates is mandatory and non-negotiable.

Dances at Noon
Join members of Boston's professional dance community in this exciting dance event. This shared one-hour performance features new works and works-in-progress in an informal studio setting.
