Biography

Daniel McCusker is a dancer, choreographer, educator and dance curator. A Senior Lecturer at Tufts University, he also has an ongoing relationship with the Boston Conservatory at Berklee where he has served as rehearsal director for performances of Merce Cunningham's "How To Pass, Kick, Fall, and Run," as well as project manager for the Cunningham Project at the ICA/Boston. Other recent projects include work with Natalya Baldyga on her production of "Orlando" for Opera House Arts in Stonington ME. His choreographic work is seen locally, most recently at the Dance Complex and the ICA. His work has been supported by generous contributors, presenting organizations and grants from MCC,, Maine Arts Commission, NYSCA, the NEA, the Monk's Trust, the UNUM Charitable Foundation, and others. A native New Yorker, he studied there with Alfredo Corvino, Judy Padow and at the Cunningham Studio. He directed Ram Island Dance, in Portland, ME, a community dance organization, and toured internationally and nationally with the Lucinda Child's Dance Company. He has taught and made work for many college dance and art programs, been a guest choreographer for several regional dance companies in the US and Canada, co-directed the Young Dancers Program at Summer Stages, been a guest choreographer for the Ballet Project at Jacob's Pillow, and taught at ADF and at Harvard Summer Dance, as well as in Singapore, Canada and France.
