Biography

Tash Oren's research focus is media history, technology, industry, theory and contemporary culture. She is the author of Demon in the Box: Jews, Arabs, Politics and Culture in the Making of Israeli Television and co-editor of several books including Global Currents: Media and Technology Now (Rutgers University Press), East Main Street: Asian American Popular Culture (New York University Press), Global Asian American Cultures (New York University Press) and Global Television Formats – Understanding Television Across Borders, which won the Best Edited Collection prize from the Society for Cinema and Media Studies in 2013. Oren has published numerous articles on film, television, screenwriting, Neurodiversity and food media and is currently at work on a book manuscript on food culture and television as well as the forthcoming collection The Routledge Handbook of Contemporary Feminism. Oren is the former program head of the Media, Cinema and Digital Studies program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where she served as Director of Film Studies.
